Biography

George Mills, President

George Mills is the President of the George Mills Company. He is known for his passion in supporting Healthcare organizations improve operations and regulatory compliance. The George Mills Company is committed to assisting healthcare organizations achieve excellence as demonstrated by their accrediting agency survey activities. Currently he teaches the CMS K-Tag to understand their relationship with the proposed Joint Commission Physical Environment Chapter.​

Previous Experience

Prior to joining JLL in 2017, George was the Director for the Department of Engineering at The Joint Commission. While at the Joint Commission, George provided standards interpretation and education to The Joint Commission’s Surveyors and accredited organizations and is a nationally recognized speaker and author. He also authored the current Environment of Care and Life Safety Chapters. Previously, George served as Senior Engineer for the Standards Interpretation Group in the division of Accreditation and Certification Operations at The Joint Commission.​

George Mills was the Director of Technical Operations for JLL Healthcare. In that role, George provided healthcare expertise over the JLL healthcare program, supporting account teams with innovation, program development, and ensuring the goals of higher reliability are achieved. Leading the Performance Optimization Group, his team was instrumental in the implementation and both operational and accreditation compliance support to the JLL community.

​George has over 40 years of experience in the healthcare environment, and previous experience in the construction industry and structural steel fabrication. Prior to joining The Joint Commission, he served as a Director of Facilities; held national positions related to Codes and Standards, including serving as Director of Codes & Compliance for ASHE; and served as a consultant.​

Mr. Mills is a Fellow with the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (FASHE), a Fellow with the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (FAAMI), a Fellow with the Royal Society of Public Health (FRSPH), Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), a retired Certified Energy Manager (CEM-R), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) and a Certified Hospital Operations Professional (CHOP-DNV). He is also a past President of HESNI – a local ASHE chapter. Mr. Mills earned a green belt with the Joint Commission and a MBA from California Coast University in Santa Ana, CA.​​​​​​
